The Infamous NDAA
Over the past couple of months, there has been a great uproar over the passage of the National Defense of Authorization Act (NDAA). Despite veto threats, on December 31, 2011, President Obama quietly signed this dangerous bill into law, effectively shredding the Bill of Rights. He chose to wish American citizens a Happy New Year by making it legal for him to have us indefinitely detained, without reason and without trial.
As expected, the bill has been met with outrage by citizens of the U.S. Montana has launched an effort to recall their state Senators that voted in favor of this unconstitutional legislation. Both Rhode Island and El Paso county in Colorado have drafted resolutions to nullify the NDAA.
We can expect other states to follow suit against the NDAA which would strip us of our civil liberties and suspend habeus corpus.
Ron Paul Introduces Legislation to Overturn the NDAA
Today, Texas Congressman and Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul made a Congressional floor speech in opposition of the NDAA. In this speech, he introduced legislation to repeal section 1021 of the bill, which contains the disturbing indefinite detention clause.
Paul went on to criticize Senator Lindsey Graham and his other colleagues for their willingness to blatantly disregard their oaths to uphold the Constitution.
This is one of the many reasons that Dr. Paul should be the only acceptable choice for President of the United States. While Obama and our state representatives are perfectly willing to sign away our freedoms, Ron Paulis one of the few that is fighting to protect us.
I strongly urge you to call or email your Senators and Representatives to demand that they vote to overturn the NDAA. Even though we chose them to represent us, in passing this dangerous bill, they’ve shown that they do not care about the American people. We must show them that this is our country and we will not sit idly by while they ignore the vow they made swearing to uphold the Constitution.
