if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity;

but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand."

Ezekiel 33:6

"A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring."

***Lame Duck Sessions Should Be Ended

The real question for the fall of an election year should not be, “What will happen during the Lame Duck Session?” The question we should all be asking is why do we even allow Lame Duck Sessions?

Elected government officials are the ONLY employees in America who can be fired them left to continue in their positions for 2 months. In any private business an employee who is fired is usually walked out the door carrying a boxfull of their personal possessions. There is good reason for this. When you fire an employee it is a personal statement against the service and performance of that employee. Firing a person is the ultimate statement of rejection by an employer. In the world of business it is considered common sense and just good business to eject a fired employee from the premises immediately. You do not leave them wandering around inside the company so they may plead their case to the remaining employees. You do not fire them then walk away and allow them to continue their work for 2 months. Who does not realize that a fired employee is a bitter employee?
Rejection, especially public rejection, is a painful experience and often results in anger from the damaged party. There is no more disgruntled employee than the one who just got fired. Any manager with a wisp of common sense understands this so a firing is “ Goodbye!”
A fired employee will not continue working for the best interests of the employer.
A fired employee is not going to show up every day trying to do their best for the employer that has publicly rejected them on a very personal level.
A fired employee able to remain at their post is very likely to use their remaining time to serve their own best interests.
A fired employee able to remain at their post is very likely to deliberately work to undermine the interests and goals of the company and or individuals that fired them. People who are hurt are likely to seek revenge. Therefore, it has long been the accepted practice of intelligent managers to walk fired employees right out the front door. Done. Finished. El gone-O.
Now we have just completed another election cycle and here we are watching as the people we voted out of office complete their last Lame Duck Sessions of their terms. An election is almost sport to many voters. To the elected officials, it is their life. Elections hire and fire our leaders and for good reason. We have this Right so we can remove the bad ones to prevent them from doing more bad things.
In our state government Lame Duch shenanigans are happening. A $100 million dollar raise as a payback for unionized state employees. This is deficit spending. On a federal level we are seeing the Food Safety Act getting shoved through and Reid is saying he will force a vote on the Dream Act. They have to hurry and accomplish what they know we don't want them to do. Several bills were put on the back burners prior to the elections. This is a tactic they use to divert our attention. When these officials know we do not approve they tuck these bills away then suddenly they reappear right after the elections so they can shove them down our throats. Voters will forget before the next election because there will be new issues by then.
Is this ruling by the consent of the governed? No. Is this the action of government officials who feel obligated to serve the people who pay them? No.
Is there any good reason at all to even allow our governments to conduct business during Lame Duck terms? No.
When we fire them we should not be subjected to their revenge. We should not have to watch as they feel free to do as they please with no recourse. We should not have to worry about Lame Duck Sessions because there should be no such thing, in state OR federal governments.
We should demand this reform. Shut them down after elections until the new people are seated. Any emergency, such as war, that absolutely demands an act of Congress can be permitted. That has not happened during a Lame Duck Session in any period of history that I am aware of.
We should end the practice of conducting Lame Duck Sessions so officials are forced to act only when they are vulnerable to our votes. The day after an election the officials should be recessed and not allowed to pass or approve anything until the newly elected arrive. There should not be 2 months of uncontrolled revenge and abuse upon our interests. We should have the same right as voters that every employer has over us as workers. When we fire officials, that should be the last day on their job. Pack the desk and go home.
