Know it or not, each and every American has a duty and responsibility, in return for the freedom they have taken for granted over the years. Having freedom doesn't mean that you can simply wake up every day and do whatever you want. For too long, we have benefited from the fruits of American prosperity and liberty, without caring for the tree. That has a time limit, and our tree of liberty is drying up. Here is the problem: We do not have the opportunity of discovering and establishing freedom, as our founders did, in another land across the ocean. America is the last frontier of hope for liberty in this world. We have lost sight of our founding principles and firm reliance on God, this is what made America great. Our elected is merely a reflection of who we are! Any country's citizens can concern themselves with only their own lives. This lends itself to an overbearing state with no power checks. However, America is not like every other country, or at least it wasn't. Nowhere else on the face of this planet, throughout history, has a country been as free as America. However, there is nothing "magic" about America. Just as any country she must be governed. However, The American System of Government means that "We the People" rule, and we do that by remaining engaged and keeping our elected accountable to our founding principles. Only through our sustained and continued engagement into their representation of us, can we preserve American freedom. We must do this, so that we and our children may preserve the right to life, liberty, and the opportunity to pursue happiness. We must INSPECT what we EXPECT. That is the price we must pay for our freedom. If we don't, we will be at the mercy of flawed men with limitless power!
Because we can send faxes, letters, emails, make phone calls, and scream at rallies all we want, but it means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, if we don't actually vote! The ONLY time our voice is truly heard and responded to is when we vote! People always say that you aren't "allowed" to whine after the election about our elected, if you haven't voted, but this includes those who whine before the election as well! For too long, we have taken too lightly, our true civic duty!
IT WILL NOT BE EASY TO REMAIN ENGAGED, AND NOT EVERYONE WILL BE ABLE TO STAY ENGAGED. But, such is the price of American Liberty.
This is NOT the END, it is only the BEGINNING, because...
"The price of Liberty, is eternal vigilance."
